Our Goals are:

•  to light the fire of passion in children for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM).

• incorporate STEAM activities and functions within the community.

• increase parental involvement

• make STEAM activities accessible to economically disadvantaged and minority populations.

Why this is important:

• Community and Parental involvement have been proven to help students in many ways. Students with parental involvement:

• Experience academic gains in Reading and Math

• Have fewer behavior problems

• Lower dropout rate

• Increased participation in academic programming

• Family participation in education is twice as predictive of student academic success as socioeconomic status.

How we accomplish our mission

• By partnering with community organizations, LPPS can target specific groups and communities within our parish. Parking the bus near and in areas with economical disadvantages
  allows us to create opportunities that were previously not available.

• Community events, such as the fair and local festivals also provide an
  opportunity to incorporate STEAM into different communities from our district.

• Through teaming up with schools, we offer an experience for our current and
  future students, their families, and the surrounding community to get them
  interested and invested in all things STEAM.
